Chinese Restaurant Cultural Experience Activity – May 7, 2023

Objective: The aim of this activity is to provide students with a tea-drinking experience to introduce them to the traditional Chinese dining culture and familiarize them with the environment and utensils commonly found in a tea house.

Activity Description: The students will visit a tea house where they will learn to read the dim sum menu and place their orders. They will have the opportunity to try their favorite dim sum items. During the process, the children will observe and learn about the operations of a tea house and the different types of food available. Finally, they will return to school and share their tea-drinking experience.

Student Feedback:  The Students thoroughly enjoyed the tea-drinking experience at the tea house with their classmates and teachers. They were delighted to try and savor various styles of dim sum. The activity effectively enhanced the students’ understanding of Chinese culture.

 

Dragon Boat Festival Cultural Experience Activity – June 21, 2023

Objective: To learn about the origins and significance of the Dragon Boat Festival and familiarize children with the cultural activities associated with the festival.

Activity Description: Through a morning assembly, the children will learn about the tradition of dragon boat racing during this festival. Subsequently, the children will engage in a collaborative activity at school to design and decorate dragon boat pictures.

Student Feedback: The children actively participated in the art activity, using various materials to decorate their dragon boat pictures. They also had the opportunity to experience the fun of dragon boat racing. The activity deepened the students’ understanding of the Dragon Boat Festival.

Lunar New Year Celebration Activity – January 20, 2023

Objective: To provide students with the experience of the festive atmosphere of Lunar New Year and enjoy the celebration with their peers.

Activity Description: The school organized a Lunar New Year Lantern Festival event, inviting parents and students to participate in the celebration. The activities included booth games, food stalls, and shadow puppetry performances.

Student Feedback: Both parents and students expressed their enthusiasm for participating in the Lunar New Year event. Through various games and activities, they were able to immerse themselves in the rich Chinese culture.

Grandparents’ Day Celebration – November 24, 2022

Objective: To cultivate positive character traits in young children, such as respect and gratitude, and to teach them to appreciate their family members. The aim is to express gratitude and show respect to our grandparents.

Activity Description: The school organized a “Grandparents’ Day” event, inviting grandparents to participate. During the event, the children expressed their gratitude to their grandparents through performances, interactive games, and taking group photos.

Student Feedback: The children thoroughly enjoyed participating in the activities and had the opportunity to express their gratitude to their grandparents through meaningful and concrete actions. Through this event, they learned about the admirable character traits in Chinese culture and gained a better understanding of traditional Chinese values.

National Flag Raising Ceremony – September 30, 2022

Objective: To increase young children’s awareness of the national flag and strengthen their sense of identity.

Activity Description: The school organized a flag-raising ceremony on National Day, during which the children learned about the proper etiquette for raising the national flag.

Student Feedback: The children thoroughly enjoyed participating in the activity and had the opportunity to learn about the Chinese national flag and strengthen their sense of identity through the event.

Mid-Autumn Festival Celebration Activity – September 9, 2022

Objective: To allow young children to experience the festive atmosphere of family reunion during the Mid-Autumn Festival and deepen their understanding of its significance.

Activity Description: The school organized a Mid-Autumn Festival celebration, inviting parents and children to participate together. The event took place in the form of booths set up in different classrooms, offering various games and activities. Through the event, the children had a profound experience of the meaning of family reunion during the Mid-Autumn Festival.

Student Feedback: The children actively participated in the Mid-Autumn Festival activities and enthusiastically engaged in different booth games. The event effectively enhanced their understanding of Chinese culture.
